Q: What is The Wellness Academy of Dothan?

A: We are a school in Dothan, Alabama, that trains students to become licensed massage therapists. Our program combines in-person hands-on instruction, online learning modules, and business/ethics training to prepare you for a professional career in wellness.

Q: Do I need prior experience in massage or anatomy to enroll?


A: No. We accept students from all backgrounds. However, we ask that applicants be motivated, reliable, and willing to commit time to hands-on practice.

Q: How long is the training program?

A: Our full program is approximately 10 months or 650 hours. We have class online on Mondays, and meet in person Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.


Q: How much does the program cost?


A: The base tuition is $8,500 (includes books and supplies). We also offer in-house financing (no interest), payment plans, and assistance in budgeting monthly payments.

Q: Do you offer financial aid or scholarships?

A: We currently offer in-house financing (no interest) and may offer scholarships or discounts when funds are available. We are not currently certified for federal financial aid (or are, if applicable). Please contact us to discuss options.

Q: What is required to enroll / application process?

A: Typically:

1. Fill out the application form

2. Submit official transcripts or proof of high school diploma / GED

3. Attend an interview / orientation session

4. Sign enrollment agreement and pay deposit / first installment

5. Attend orientation / begin classes

Q: What will I learn during the program?

A: Topics include anatomy & physiology, kinesiology, pathology, massage techniques (Swedish, deep tissue, sports, etc.), ethics, contraindications, client assessment, business skills, client communication, and clinical practicum.

Q: Do you help students prepare for state licensing / board exams?

A: Yes. Our curriculum aligns with licensing requirements in Alabama. We provide exam prep, mock exams, and guidance through the licensing process.

Q: Are your graduates eligible to work immediately after graduation?

A: After successful completion and passing the licensing exam, graduates may begin working in spas, wellness centers, chiropractic offices, private practice, or other settings.

Q: Do you have a student clinic or hands-on practice opportunities?

A: Yes. Students gain supervised, hands-on experience in our labs/clinic to build confidence and practical skills.

Q: What job prospects do graduates have?

A: Graduates often find employment in spas, wellness centers, chiropractic or physical therapy offices, resorts/hospitality, medical massage practices, or start their own business.

Q: Do you assist with job placement or referrals?

A: While we don’t guarantee jobs, we maintain industry partnerships and provide students with networking, resume and business guidance, and referrals to local employers.

Q: Will I be ready to start my own practice?

A: Our program includes business, marketing, and client management training to help you launch and manage your own practice—covering topics like client retention, pricing, scheduling, and professional ethics.

Q: Where is the school located?

Q: When are class times / hours?

A: We have class online on Mondays, and meet in person Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-9pm.

Q: What happens if I miss a class or session?

A: We allow make-up hours for excused absences (under certain conditions). However, absences beyond a certain limit may delay graduation. Attendance is critical for hands-on training.

Q: Do I need to bring supplies or equipment?

A: We provide core supplies (massage tables, oils, linens) for in-class use. Students are responsible for items such as uniform, textbooks, massage oils and sheets.

Q: Are there prerequisites or age requirements?

A: Students must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. No prior massage experience required.
